Signs of fall

The daytime temperatures are in the 60s (that’s Fahrenheit, of course) and very pleasant, but colder weather is on the way. My apartment building has central heating with those old metal radiators, which seem to be working just fine. The apartment does not have a thermostat, but my Eagle Creek travel clock has a handy temperature gauge, and it seems to be holding steady at 70-72 degrees.

The leaves are turning colors and falling to the ground, the first reminder of fall. This is Hviezdoslavovo námestie, looking west.

Another sign: McDonald’s removed their outdoor seating area on October 1.

Most outdoor cafes are hanging on a little longer as the temperatures drop. This one kindly gives patrons a leopard-patterned blanket to stay warm. I saw colorful blankets at several other cafes too.

This café uses outdoor heating lamps to prolong the season a bit more. These are also very common in Southern California when the nights turn chilly.
