Hummel Museum

Today I visited the home of the 18th century composer, Johann Nepomuk Hummel, open for visitors on the eastern side of Old Town off Klobučnika. Admission is 40 SKK (about $1.60).

This is the house where Hummel, who studied with Mozart and Haydn, was born.

It is not visible from the street, but is surrounded by a huge building of later eras.

The street entrance takes you through a small bookstore and into the courtyard area where the house is located.

Inside the museum are several historic pianos that he played and various scores and other historic documents.

A statue in his honor is located outside the German Embassy on Hviezdoslavovo námestie, opposite the Hotel Danube.
