Habitat for Europe

Habitat for Humanity, the organization started in 1976 to build affordable housing, has just opened an international office in Bratislava.

I stopped by the Hotel Danube to see a visiting photography exhibit of some of the housing they have already built in poorer areas of Europe, including eastern Slovakia.

Here is their web site: http://www.habitat.org/eca/

Little dig

This puzzling glass structure is located in a busy commercial area of Old Town, across the street from a McDonald's and T-Mobile Slovakia.

It covers an archeological dig of the ossuary ("place for bones") of the St. Jacob’s Chapel, which dates to the 15th century. History everywhere you turn in this city.
